The Archies had the single longest stint in the top spot – 8 weeks with Sugar Sugar.
The usual suspects – The Beatles and the Rolling Stones – also had number 1 hits in 1969.

Mary Hopkin had the longest stint in the number one spot, spending six weeks there in September.
It was the year Beatles released the iconic “Hey Jude”.

Being St George’s day, we though that we would take a look at ten of the most successful English artists of all time.

The Bee Gees scored their first number 1 hit in the UK charts and Engelbert Humperdinck spent 11 weeks in the top spot with two memorable hits!

Jim Reeves and Tom jones with the two biggest single hits, staying 5 weeks and 7 weeks in the top spot respectively.
1965 – The number 1 spot changed 26 times, with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones each having 3 separate number 1 singles.
Ken Dodd spent 5 weeks at number 1 and Tom Jones had his first UK number 1 with the legendary “It’s not Unsusal”
So we’re up to 1964!
The Rolling Stones got their first number one, along with The Kinks.
The number one spot shared out across 22 different tunes – 6 more than the previous year.
The Beatles still managing to hold on as Kings of the charts.
Up to 1963, and we can see The Beatles dominating, spending a total of 20 weeks at the top.
